Questions About a PsyD in Missouri

Which Is the Best PsyD Program in Missouri?

In the 2027 ranking, Kansas City University in Kansas City, Missouri is first among the PsyD programs in Missouri, with a score of 44.2 out of 100 and 95th place nationally. Its program page is Kansas City University’s Doctor of Psychology page in Clinical Psychology. The score weighs cost, graduate earnings, completion, internship and licensure outcomes, track record, credential alignment and program reputation, and the methodology page shows each weight.

Does Missouri Require an APA-Accredited PsyD?

No. Revised Statutes of Missouri 337.025 accepts a program accredited by APA, CPA or PCSAS, and also one designated by ASPPB or the National Register or one meeting the statute’s own list of criteria. For a U.S. school to count as a recognized educational institution, the committee’s rule looks for accreditation by a regional accreditor recognized by CHEA.

Does Missouri Require a Postdoctoral Year for Psychologists?

The statute does not. It asks for a 1,500-hour internship and at least 2,000 further hours, which can come from preinternship and predoctoral postinternship work, extra internship hours or postdoctoral experience. The committee’s application instruction letter sets out steps for applicants on pre-doctoral hours and on post-doctoral hours.

What Is the Oral Examination for Missouri Psychologists?

It is the last of the three examinations. Under 20 CSR 2235-2.060, the committee asks about ethics, professional practice and any other subject in psychology it chooses, and a candidate sits for it only after passing the EPPP and the jurisprudence exam, which takes 70% of items correct.

What Do Psychologists Earn in Missouri?

BLS reports a median annual wage of $99,410 for clinical and counseling psychologists (SOC 19-3033) in Missouri for May 2025. The 10th percentile is $45,770 and the 90th is $141,810. School psychologists (SOC 19-3034) have a median of $70,290. Percentiles mark points in the pay distribution of everyone in the occupation, not years of experience.
