La Salle's program follows the practitioner-scholar model and emphasizes a cognitive-behavioral theoretical orientation, with evidence-based practice and attention to diversity built into the curriculum. The degree is approximately 126 graduate credits: 75 credits of courses all students share, 12 credits in the chosen concentration, 6 of practicum seminar, 18 of Clinic Team, at least 6 dissertation credits and 9 internship credits, and students earn a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology after the Level I and Level II courses. Clinical training runs for three years, each combining an externship (typically two days of supervised clinical work over a 9 to 12 month period at an off-campus site), a year-long rotation in the LUCPS Student Training Clinic and a practicum seminar, with at least 600 on-site training hours a year; students in a concentration complete Doctoral Practicum II at a site that fits it and write their Clinical Dissertation in that area. The internship is one year full time or two calendar years part time, and the Clinical Dissertation may be a qualitative or quantitative research project.
The program is intended for students with a bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field and for those who hold a master's degree in a mental health discipline, and the GRE is waived for applicants applying in 2026 for admission in 2027. It is designed as a five-year, full-time program, though students may take courses part time for up to two years, and every graduate degree must be completed within seven years of entry. Applications for fall 2027 are due December 7, 2026, finalists interview in person on the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, campus, and cohorts average 15 to 20 students. A limited amount of tuition-reduction funding is available for full-time students in the first level of the program.
