Cheapest PsyD Programs (2027)

The cheapest PsyD programs are ordered here by the yearly tuition a student pays, lowest first, after any tuition the school waives for every admitted student. 104 APA-accredited programs publish a full-time tuition, from the 2022-2023 cohort to the 2026-2027 cohort, and James Madison University (Harrisonburg, VA) comes first: it waives tuition for every admitted student. Where a public university lists both an in-state and an out-of-state price, this list counts the out-of-state price; a student who qualifies as an in-state resident pays that school’s in-state price.

What Puts a Program on the Tuition List and How It Is Ordered

A program is among the cheapest PsyD programs here when it publishes a full-time tuition for the program; the list is ordered by the yearly tuition a student pays, lowest first, after any tuition the school waives for every admitted student (equal figures go to the higher national rank).

Scores come from Methodology v2, version 2.0, which weighs cost (20 points), graduate earnings (20 points), completion (15 points), internship and licensure outcomes (15 points) most heavily; it ranks every program once, and each list filters that ranking.

Each card prints the tuition as the school printed it, with the period it printed and the cohort year of its cost table; the tables on this list run from the 2022-2023 cohort to the 2026-2027 cohort. A figure with no period is the first-year cohort’s yearly cost from the cost table APA requires every accredited program to post. The order counts a per-semester figure at two semesters a year unless the program states how many terms a full-time student pays for, and a quarter or a trimester at three a year; a price per credit on its own is not converted into a yearly figure. Where a school waives a share of tuition for every admitted student, the order uses what is left after the waiver, and a dollar figure this site counted from the school’s percentage says so.

Questions About the Tuition List

Which Program Costs the Least for 2027?

James Madison University (Harrisonburg, VA) comes first among the cheapest PsyD programs here. It waives tuition for every admitted student.

How Many Programs Are Listed by Tuition?

104 APA-accredited programs are on it. A program is among the cheapest PsyD programs here when it publishes a full-time tuition for the program; the list is ordered by the yearly tuition a student pays, lowest first, after any tuition the school waives for every admitted student (equal figures go to the higher national rank).

Does the Score Set the Order Here?

No. The cheapest PsyD programs are ordered by the yearly tuition a student pays, lowest first, and each program keeps the national score it holds on every other list. Methodology v2, version 2.0, scores every ranked program out of 100 on cost (20), graduate earnings (20), completion (15), internship and licensure outcomes (15), track record (10), credential alignment (10), program reputation (10). The methodology page explains each factor and its source.

How Is Tuition Counted on This List?

Each program’s tuition is shown as the school printed it, with its period. Where a public university lists both an in-state and an out-of-state price, this list counts the out-of-state price; a student who qualifies as an in-state resident pays that school’s in-state price. Tuition published per semester is counted at two semesters a year, unless the program states how many terms a full-time student pays for in a year; quarters and trimesters are counted at three. A price per credit on its own is not converted into a yearly figure, so a program that publishes only that is scored as having no published tuition. Remission promised to every admitted student is subtracted; aid some students receive is not.

What Is the EPPP Pass Rate for the Lowest-Tuition Programs?

The median first-time pass rate among the 83 programs on this list with an ASPPB rate is 69%. ASPPB reports 75% for all accredited doctoral programs, and recommends a passing score of 500. ASPPB, EPPP scores by doctoral program.
