The Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology at Oklahoma City University trains students in the scientific practice of professional psychology, with a commitment to evidence-based practice and a practitioner scholar approach. The 120-hour degree combines required courses in three areas (clinical core, general psychology core and research core) with electives, practicum and internship hours and capstone projects: a master's research project and a doctoral research project. Students earn a Master of Science after their first two years of coursework (51 hours), including the master's research project, though the program does not offer a terminal master's degree that leads to licensure. The program lasts five years, the first four in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on coursework, practicums and research projects and the fifth on the doctoral internship. Electives include courses in rural mental health, trauma, addictions, gerontology and clinical interventions with families.

Applicants need a bachelor's degree, 18 hours of psychology coursework (including research methods, statistics, abnormal psychology or personality, and developmental, social or cognitive psychology), an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or a graduate GPA of 3.25, and GRE scores, and they apply through PSYCAS; the 2026-27 cycle closes December 15, 2026. Up to 24 hours of related graduate coursework completed within 7 years before admission may transfer after a syllabus review, though no practicum or internship hours transfer and accepted credits do not shorten the program. Tuition is charged per credit hour. OCU says graduates who complete the degree and the required postdoctoral licensure hours can apply for licensure as psychologists, and it advises checking the licensure laws of the state where they plan to practice; licensure is granted by each state's psychology board.

  • The program totals 120 credit hours.
  • The program admits one cohort of 8 to 12 students each fall.
  • Applicants must take the GRE.
  • A Master of Science is conferred after the first two years of coursework.
