Questions About a PsyD in Connecticut
Which APA-Accredited PsyD Program Is in Connecticut?
In the 2027 ranking, University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut is the one APA-accredited program taking new students among the PsyD programs in Connecticut, with a score of 75.4 out of 100 and 4th place nationally. Its program page is University of Hartford’s Psy.D. program page in Clinical Psychology. The score weighs cost, graduate earnings, completion, internship and licensure outcomes, track record, credential alignment and program reputation, and the methodology page shows each weight.
Does Connecticut Require an APA-Accredited PsyD?
No. The state regulation treats an APA-accredited program as approved. A program without that accreditation goes through an individual review, and for degrees finished on or after July 1, 1989 it must meet every criterion the regulation lists, from a regionally accredited school to a year of study in residence.
Does Connecticut Require a Postdoctoral Year for Psychologists?
No. The department asks for one year of supervised work at the pre or postdoctoral level, and work done inside the internship the degree requires does not count. A graduate still finishing that year or the EPPP can practice under a licensed psychologist on a post-doctoral training permit, which lasts no more than one year after the degree.
Which Exam Does a Connecticut Psychologist Take?
The EPPP, which the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards administers. The Department of Public Health puts the passing score at 500 for exams taken since April 2001, and the state statute leaves the examination to the department with the advice and consent of the board.
